Early Life
Alyson Hannigan was born on 24 th March 1974 in Washington D.C. Her father was a truck driver named Al Hannigan. Her mother Emilie Posner dealt in houses. Her father was of Irish descent, whereas her mother was Jewish.
At the young age of two, Alyson Hannigan’s parents divorced. She later relocated with her mother to Atlanta, Georgia and she spent her childhood there. Little Alyson became a TV commercial star already at the age of four, and it was McDonalds, Oreo cookies, Six Flags and so on.
When Alyson Hannigan was eleven years old she and her mother transferred to Hollywood, California in order that Alyson should aim more seriously at acting. Shortly, she signed up an agent and started auditioning. She was a member of North Hollywood High School and later took her degree in psychology at California State University, Northridge.

First Steps
Her first film role came in 1986, in a comedy called Impure Thoughts. Alyson was only 12 years old. Two years later, she appeared with Dan Aykroyd in the sci-fi comedy My Stepmother Is an Alien. This role earned her a Young Artist Award nomination. 
On TV, Alyson Hannigan had her first regular part in the short-lived ABC sitcom Free Spirit (1989–1990). Even then, her early work got noticed.
♀️ Breakthrough Role as Willow in Buffy the Vampire Slayer
In 1997, Alyson landed a role that changed her life: Willow Rosenberg in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Willow began as a shy, book-loving friend to Buffy (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar). Over time, Willow grew stronger and more confident, discovering she had magical powers. She even fell in love with a woman named Tara—one of the first positive lesbian relationships on U.S. TV.
Alyson Hannigan played Willow for all 144 episodes of Buffy plus three episodes of spinoff Angel, making about 147 total appearances. Critics and fans loved Willow. Alyson won a Saturn Award and a Teen Choice Award, and continued earning acclaim through Buffy’s run.
Funny and Sweet in American Pie
In 1999, Alyson Hannigan stepped into a very different world: comedy. She played Michelle Flaherty in American Pie, the quiet girl from band camp. Her line “This one time, at band camp…” became iconic.
Alyson Hannigan returned as Michelle in its three sequels: American Pie 2 (2001), American Wedding (2003), and American Reunion (2012). These films were huge hits, and Alyson earned Teen Choice and Young Hollywood awards.
